Before Neopets were converted into customisable creatures in April 2007, your pixelated companion was a static GIF. Since the pet poses were not constrained by a rigid structure to align with other clothing, a good number of Neopets had unique poses, similar to how Mutant, Baby, Maraquan, and Fruit pets have a unique body pose today. When the big conversion happened in April 2007, TNT allowed for some pets to stay in their pre-customisation poses, at the expense of not being able to dress them up.
